Please be aware of the following important details regarding the application of window film:
Thermal Fracture Risk When applying solar control window film internally, there is a minimal risk of thermal fracture in the glass. We can perform a thermal stress analysis (glass checklist) to check compatibility with your glazing type. This analysis assumes that windows are glazed per BS6262 Glazing Code of Practice and that there are no existing edge faults within the frame rebate.
If Solar Tint Wales advises against applying window film and the buyer chooses to proceed, Solar Tint Wales will not be responsible for any glass breakage or damage that occurs post-installation.
Glass Quality and Condition The strength of the glass depends heavily on its quality and edge condition (chips, shells, vents, cracks). As these factors are beyond our control, we cannot guarantee against glass breakage or glazing damage, and no warranty will be provided.
Preparation for Application For a successful window film application, the area must be clean and dust-free. The client is responsible for removing or protecting soft furnishings, furniture, plants, paperwork, etc., before the film is applied. Solar Tint Wales will not be liable for any damage to items we must move ourselves unless caused by our negligence.
Site Readiness We often find sites are not clean enough for proper film installation. If we are asked to attend under these conditions, an aborted site visit charge of £250.00 will be applied to cover our fitters’ wasted journey.
Installation Risks During installation, squeegee pressure may cause some glazing to crack or break, especially in older single glazing. Similarly, removing existing window film carries a risk of glass damage. Solar Tint Wales will not be liable for such damage unless caused by our negligence. We will report any breakages to you.
Curing Time Under normal conditions, window film cures in 30 days, but this can vary with temperature and climate. Solar Tint Wales will not be liable for drying bubbles if the film has not fully cured under normal conditions. The liability under warranty from the Film Manufacturer or Solar Tint Wales will not exceed the cost of replacing and reapplying the product, and they will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage not caused by negligence.
Visual Quality Installed film on flat surfaces may not match the visual quality of glass. Full adhesion takes time, and inspection for optical quality should be done from a distance of no less than 2 meters, at right angles, and in natural daylight. The installation is acceptable if unobtrusive defects like dirt particles, water haze, hair, fibers, scores, scratches, adhesive gels, distortion, fingerprints, creases, insects, air bubbles, edge lift, and nicks and tears are present. Edge gaps are usually 1-4mm, and splicing films may be necessary for larger glass panels.
One-way privacy films work based on light ratios. These films allow clear visibility from the inside during daylight while providing privacy from the outside. However, the one-way effect reverses after dark if interior lighting is on, making it possible for people to see inside. By accepting our quotation for one-way privacy films, you acknowledge understanding how these films work, and no claims can be made against Solar Tint Wales after their installation.
It is advisable to conduct an orientation test before installing Data Jammer Film as it may not function correctly in some situations. If Solar Tint Wales conducts the test, we will confirm the results in writing at the time of the quotation. If the client conducts the test, we require written results before providing a quotation. These results will be part of your quotation, and no claims can be made against Solar Tint Wales if the film does not function correctly post-installation.
You have the right to cancel this contract within fourteen calendar days from the day you receive this notice. Cancellation must be communicated in writing or by email. Notice is considered served once it is posted or emailed to Solar Tint Wales.
If you wish to cancel the contract, you must do so in writing and deliver it personally or send it via mail or email to info@tintingforglass.co.uk.
If you agree in writing for work to commence before the fourteen-day cancellation period ends, and you later cancel, you may be responsible for reasonable payment for any work done or materials produced.
